Density formula

What is density?

We are going to discuss the formula of Density which is very often used in physics.Density is a property of matter that is unique to each substance. It is a measure of the mass of the substance in a standard unit of volume. Sometimes density is easy to sense. If two objects have exactly the same size and shape, the denser one may feel heavier. But if their densities are very close together, it will be hard to tell a difference. It gets really tough if you are dealing with materials that have very different sizes and/or very different shapes. You can calculate with this density formula which is below.

What is the density formula?

In this formula D equals m divided by V where D stands for Density, m stands for mass, and V stands for Volume.

What is the instrument to measure Density ?

A very common instrument for the direct measurement of the density of a liquid is the hydrometer, which measures the volume displaced by an object of known mass. A common laboratory device for measuring fluid density is a pycnometer; a related device for measuring the absolute density of a solid is a gas pycnometer. Another instrument used to determine the density of a liquid or a gas is the digital density meter - based on the oscillating U-tube principle.

What is the unit of density?

The density in formula of a solid is to take a gauge in grams per cubic centimeter org per cm 3 (g/cm 3) because the mass of a solid is to take a gauge in grams and volume is to take a gauge in cubic centimeter.

Units of Density

The density in formula of a liquid, but, is usually takes gauged in grams per milliliter or g per mL or (g/mL) because the mass of a liquid is still have to be gauged in grams but the volume of a liquid is to take a gauge in milliliter.

That's it! If you want to find the density of any substance, just divide its mass in grams by its volume in cubic centimeter or millimeter. Don't forget it because if you won't divide mass from kilograms to grams or volume cubic metres to cubic centimeter you can get a different result. So watch out for this kind of mistakes !

2009-03-01 Density formula is more complicated than i thought, but with this kind of explanation it's a bit easier to understand how to calculate density.
